Roxana Saberi, an American of Iranian and Japanese descent, spent six years working as a journalist in Iran before being arrested on charges of espionage by the Iranian government. Her book, Between Two Worlds: My Life and Captivity in Iran is an account of her ordeal.
On Monday, April 12, 2010, Saberi appeared at a Freedom Project program held at Roosevelt University, speaking about her book and the state of press freedoms in Iran. Steven Franklin, Ethic News Media Project Director at the Community Media Workshop, moderated the discussion, which was co-sponsored by the Freedom Project, Amnesty International, the Roosevelt Adjunct Faculty Association and Northeastern Illinois University's Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh Leadership Fund.
