Freedom in the News: Olympics in China, Protests in Tibet...A Connection?

Since the Freedom Museum opened in April 2006, we have kept a close eye on the status of human rights and religious freedom in Tibet. We have had two programs, a movie screening and now two podcasts on this subject, as Tibet continues to be a hot spot for freedom news. Many protests, some violent, have sprouted in Tibet recently as China steps into the world spotlight with the upcoming summer Olympic Games. In this podcast, Nathan Richie, Director of Exhibits and Programs at the Freedom Museum, interviews John Ackerly, President of the International Campaign for Tibet. Listen to Mr. Acklerly's explanations of the difference between current protests in Tibet and previous protests that have happened. Also learn what these protests have to do with Chinese occupation of Tibet and the Beijing Summer Olympics, as well has how the Dalai Lama and the Chinese government have responded to these events.
