avery r. young is a writer, performing artist and teaching artist whose artwork rekindles the spark of Self-Pride and Self-Preservation that indoctrinated the voices of his predecessors.  His work is characterized and uniquely enriched with a vernacular, cadence and rhythm that encompasses the history, present and future of African-American people. young has performed internationally and has been featured on HBO, MTV and Lollapalooza, his energetic presentation and study of this particular subject keeps his lecture informative and engaging.  He currently works with Young Chicago Authors as a Curriculum Specialist and through the Center for Community Arts Projects at Columbia Chicago, introducing, encouraging, inspiring youth throughout Chicago to pursue careers in arts and media.
