What is the Freedom Express? Who is the Freedom Express for? When can I schedule the Freedom Express to visit my middle or high school? When can I schedule the Freedom Express for a community event? Where can I see the Freedom Express this summer? What is the Freedom Express? The Freedom Express is a forty-five foot mobile museum that tells the story of our First Amendment freedoms. The exhibits on the Freedom Express combine artifacts and award-winning, computer-based interactives. The Freedom Express is an exciting new outreach initiative of the McCormick Foundation whose goal is to invest in the civic health of our communities by inspiring lifelong civic engagement among citizens. Through the Freedom Express, the McCormick Foundation promotes informed participation in our democracy by demonstrating the relevance of the First Amendment in our lives, and the role it plays in the ongoing struggle to define and defend freedom in the United States. back to top Who is the Freedom Express for? The Freedom Express was created to serve middle and high school students and teachers, as well as the various communities throughout Chicago and its suburbs in order to improve the overall civic health of Illinois. back to top When can I schedule the Freedom Express to visit my middle or high school? To host the Freedom Express at your school during the 2010-2011 school year, you can visit our Web site beginning Monday, August 16 to make a request. The earliest date to host the Freedom Express for a school visit is Tuesday, September 7. Community organizations throughout Chicagoland can request the Freedom Express for community events scheduled for summer 2010. Click here to download a Scheduling Request Form for Community Hosts.
